“Instead of a thousand words.
Better just one,
One that brings peace.
Instead of a thousand verses,
Better just one,
One that shows beauty.
Instead of a thousand songs,
Better just one,
One that spreads joy”
—This was Lord Buddha’s vision
Can we wholeheartedly say that the year has gotten off to a promising start with the recent incident causing a jolt to our conscience? However, this year heralds the coming of responsible, empowered youth, willing and concerned enough to take to the streets, is a sign of hope. Empathy isn’t enough. We have to ask meaningful questions and pledge our role to make our nation safe. The need of the hour is an attitudinal change, introspection, and unearthing values and ethics that truly place us above the primitive man.
As Oprah Winfrey said, “Cheers to the New Year and another chance for us to get it right”. Take a pledge and make it happen. The teens have arrived, and with what a gusto! My dear students, you mark a new beginning and provide cause for optimism and cheer. Let this spirit continue, and as for you, parents, the next time your daughter wants to play football, just go out and join her! As we enter a new term of academics and plunge into the sea of evaluation, let us not forget the fiend lurking in our society. Defeat him, together we can make it happen.
