ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION

The Mega event of Kumara Rani’s Chettinad Vidyalaya – 28th Annual Day was celebrated on 30th January 2014.

The Chief Guest was Dr.D.SHANTHARAM ,Vice-Chancellor of The TamilNadu Dr.MGR Medical University. The Correspondent and Secretary, Dr.Meena Muthiah graced the occasion. The Principal Mrs.Amudha Lakshmi and Vice Principal G.S.Ganesan were also present. The Headmistress Mrs.Lakshmi Ashok welcomed the august gathering.

The program began with an invocation to the muses. The school choir consisted of our tiny tots from Vidyalaya.

First, we had the Aarthi for Sai Baba with the tiny devotees praying and singing in unison. The whole atmosphere was charged with spirituality and carried the audience to Shirdi.

Next we had the welcome dance by the Pre-KG tiny tots. They all looked very cute in their special attire and danced well.

Montessori – I children did a dance number like toys. They looked like mannequins and their colorful costumes were wonderful.

The interludes consisted of the story of a lonely seed and all the children expressed themselves very well. Another interlude was the animal song by the kids donning animal masks and expressing their feelings through the lovely music. The third interlude consisted of Yoga demonstration by Arun from Montessori II.

The folk dance by LKG children had all the coloring of the true south Indian festival fervor. It was complete with Peacock, Horse dance and percussion played by the tiny musicians and dancers.

The five elements which are always with us were depicted by Montessori III children dancing to the soulful background music. The costumes reflected their respective elements.

Two programs were presented by UKG children. The first one was a Dance Drama depicting the story of GANGA and all the children performed excellently. The second one was a Celebration of 100 Years of cinema. Catchy numbers from the past three decades were presented through dance and music. It was a memorable evening for everyone.

Chettinad Vidyashram, the epitome of knowledge attributes its success to the enthusiasm, encouragement and inspiration of Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah, Kumararani of Chettinad, Secretary and Correspondent. She has been ceaselessly endeavouring to mould and shape the institution as an enduring beacon of scholastic brilliance and cultural radiance.

 Chettinad Vidyashram hosted its 28th Annual Day celebration on Friday,  31st January 2014 ,  at Kumararajah M.A.M. Muthiah Hall, Chettinad Vidyashram. The Chief Guest for the event was Ms. PRIYADARSINI GOVIND , Director – The Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai.

 Vishwa Virasat (World Heritage Sites) stressed on the history, beauty and the knowledge we have gained from ancient  artifacts and the need to conserve our world heritage sites as well.  The mesmerizing journey through the evening’s cultural fiesta in all its beauty and grandeur  was a source of life and inspiration.

The program commenced with the invocation song by the school choir followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah, Kumararani of Chettinad, Secretary and Correspondent. The Annual Report was presented by the Principal, Mrs. Amudha Lakshmi S. The Chief Guest

Ms. Priyadarsini Govind gave away the prizes to the students who excelled in various fields and rendered the presidential speech to the august gathering. The Head Mistress, Mrs. Kamala Ravindran  gave the vote of thanks.

The glamorous cultural fiesta kicked off with an invocation dance-Buddham Sharanam Gatchami,   followed  by the Tamil play based on the world heritage centre Tanjore-Kanchipuram, a fascinating contemporary dance  and a traditional dance drama – Chidambara Ragasiyam,  an ever- realistic folk dance, a historic English play and the much awaited Hindi dance. The program was spaced out with enthralling and enlightening interludes and concluded with a pledge to preserve the world heritage.

 Chettinad Vidyashram hosted its 28th Annual Day celebration on Saturday,  1st February  2014 ,  at Kumararajah M.A.M. Muthiah Hall, Chettinad Vidyashram. The Chief Guest for the event was The Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.JAGADEESAN , High Court, Madras.

 Utsav – the joy of festivals  highlighted the essence of festivals  from different parts of the world  exhibited through variety of dance performances and thought provoking plays .

The program commenced with the invocation song by the school choir followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah, Kumararani of Chettinad, Secretary and Correspondent. The Annual Report was presented by the Principal, Mrs. Amudha Lakshmi S. The Chief Guest

The Invocation Dance – Ganesha Vandanam unveiled the cultural fiesta for the evening followed by an array of festivals – Pongal, the hilarious tamil play, the captivating fusion dance depicting the Chinese Spring Festival, Navarathiri – Dance Drama, Halloween – Western dance, Christmas – the  enthralling English play and the foot – tapping Hindi dance.   The program was spaced out with interesting and informative  interludes.
